Primark/boots haul

Hello my lovely fellow fashion fanatic and beauty bonkers individuals!

Today I went to town on my day off, and did a bit of a whoopsie in Primark and Boots. I bought a few glittery items in primark to feed my magpie tendencies and thenskipped over to boots to find the Bleach London products which have just been launched in the UK stores. I purchased the silver shampoo, ill give you all a shout when ive tried it andlet you know if its really worth the hype!

Enjoy my ramblings, and have an excellent week everyone.

Lots of love,

I lost my china glaze virginity.

Hello!

I went to town on a few nail colours the other day after discovering I wasnt really digging any of my current nail varnishes, despite my collection filling up nearly three boxes. You know how it is!
I decided to treat myself to some China Glaze nail lacquer with hardeners, just because I had read some excellent reviews.
I spotted a shop in my nearest town that literally had a whole wall of China Glaze, I was spoiltfor choice but decided on these three beautiful babies. Two are base colours, and bought a a very beautiful and unique top coat the jazz it up in winter.

From left to right there is:

I have wanted a white nail varnish for a while, just because I think its a really lovely colour this season, and can make an outfit complete. I have tried cheaper white polishes butnone of them have made the cutin terms of pigment, longetivety or substance. This white China Glaze wonder however, was totally worth every penny. As soon as I applied the first stroke the colour was so rich I only applied one coat!
I also bought the Luxe and lush glitter top coat from the "Hunger Games" inspired China Glaze collection, which is literally like no other top coat I have seen before. It is just beautiful. You have to see it to really understand its beauty. its just the most enticing and rich in glitter polish I have see. Definitely in my opinion better than Models Own head kandi "ibiza mix" polish, which was popular amongst many bloggers last year.

Here you can see how much the white really presents the beauty of the glitter top coat, it almost looks like ice on my nails. Just beautiful

The third polish I chose was a pearly pink, I am such a sucker for pink polishes but this one really is top of my list. It dries with a matte finish, and is just the perfect neon pink, which isnt too bright but bright enough if you will.

In total i spent £20 on these, and every penny worth it. I have never used China Glaze before, but their staying power and pigment is just second to none if you ask me.

I hope you are all having a good week.

Love

Get to know me youtube tag video

Good evening.

So i was feeling rather like making another video, and decided a little "get to know me" may be quite interesting after a few fashion and beauty related posts. Plus it was pretty fun to do something a little different.

I do apologise in advance for the small video size but if you maximise the screen you can see my ugly mug much clearer. Just a few questions, including my favourite cereal and where I was born. I enjoy watching videos like this, i hope you enjoy!

Have an excellent weekend everyone.

Mini Primarni haul video

Hey hey lovelies!

So i popped to primark today on my way back from a sesh in the gym, and didnt really expect to find anything but i had a little spare time so had a cheeky snoop round. I bought two beautiful pairs of shorts, a mesh jumper and some more of my holy grail lip product.

I love watching other peoples hauls, and watching people ramble on like i do naturally, so heres me doing just that.

Enjoy!

OOTD - Welcome to October.

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post to show you all what I wore in this rapidly cooling weather we have here in the UK. Fortunately I wasnt really in need of a jacket, but i did pop my trusty leather H&M biker (mentioned in a previous OOTD) in my bag just incase! Tights are my best friend at the moment, they look super cosy with my leather boots!

Topshop 'eyelash jumper' - similar in other stores

So today I was outdoors for the majority of the day, hence the cosiness of this attire. I was feeling a little blue this morning so decided to jazz up my day with my totally barginous New Look sequin khaki shorts, they were £3! Unfortunately they are sold out now, but there are similar ones ive seem in other stores. I have a bit of a thing for Khaki at the moment and these fit the bill perfectly, especially with the added sequin bling.
Originally, I was wearing a black leotard with these before i left the house and a leather jacket but i decided my Topshop 'eyelash' jumper was more weather appropriate and I eanted to get some wear out of it. This seems to be a staple for me this month, despite the fact i nought it over a year ago! Its so comfy, and versatile. I mentioned this in more detail in my previous video "whats in my bag?"
As you can tell i wore my hair differently today, i always wear it down or stick a headband on. I thought id take the plunge and drag it up into a ponytail, i think this really worked, and made my outfit a little more 'effortless'
I hope you enjoyed this quick little post, and I hope your mondays havent been too painful!

Im still new to this blogging malarkey and hope to start blogging on a more regular basis when I get my life sorted a little more! Any opportnities for advice or PR would be excellent. Just give me a shout on my email which is- styleoversense@gmail.com.

Otherwise thanks for reading

OOTD- "Grunge, from head to toe"

Good evening!

So heres a very cold weather friendly OOTD for you guys. I hope your all having a good week so far!

H&M beanie- Similar here
Primark cami
Primark parka
Levis "skinny" jeans

So it was a little chilly out in the autumn air today, I took full advantage and cosied up in my new bargain of a coat. If youve read my other posts, youll see that I own no other outerwear but leather jackets, however during a visit to my local primark the other day I couldnt resist taking the plunge and investing in a cosy faux leather edgy parka like this! If i remember correctly it was only £20.00, which is a total bargin for the surprisingly good quality and warmth. Underneath I added a splash of colour with my blood red velvet cami top, also from Primark. With my Levi jeans and Vagabond flatforms I thought it was grungey yet extremely wearable and cosy.

I popped my new beanie over my little ears for extra warmth, (which i am totally in love with) its simple yet so edgy, i love it. I just think it makes the outfit more, well, me.

I hope you guys liked my outfit, tell me what you think! Whats everyone else layering up with? Leather? Camo? Wool?

Have a great friday everyone

Tom Ford is my home boy- my one and only fragrance.

Tom Ford- Black Orchid, is, and always will be my absolute go to fragrance. It is that special, I believe it deserved a review post despite the fact I have had it for around a year now. Believe me, it is as good as it gets if you enjoy distinctive and individual scents. It is a genius and truly amazing perfume.

There is a slight story behind this beautiful frangrance. I have never been a perfume fanatic, and if im honest, didnt actually own a single perfume before this because I could never find one I liked enough to wear.

I remember being sat having my hair highlighted, enjoying a cup of coffee and reading Bazaar magazine in the hairdressers. And as i was reading the perfume review section, when the description of Tom Fords private blend "Cafe Rose" scent really caught my eye. It was described in such a way, I had to smell it. If i remember correctly it was described as dark, mysterious and oriental. As soon as i had the opportunity to smell this private blend, admittedly i was hugely impressed. I then spritzed myself with "black orchid", and that was it. It may say strange, but I was absolutely blown away with the effect it had on me. It made me feel warm, excited and almost 'at home'. This may sound exaggerated and over enthused, but when you take into consideration I have never liked any other perfumes enough to purchase, it was a pretty big deal. (And yes i know, its only a perfume!!)

I can only describe this scent as, luxurious, gothic and uterrley beautiful. Its like nothing I have ever smelt, yet its aroma makes me feel at home, safe almost! Admittedly it might not be for everyone as it is a very acquired  aroma, but it sure is perfect If you enjoy something indivudual. For those of you that have a more "visual" mind, if this scent was a situation or a picture, i would descirbe it as, like sitting in front of a warm log fire place, being wrapped up in blankets and drinking mulled wine. It is just the most heart warming scent I have smelt in my whole life.

I hasten to add, but this perfection does come a hefty (but worth it) price tag. At £50.00 for just 30ml, it does break the bank a little. However, this smell is so luxuriously strong, it has amazing staying/ wearing power and lasts literally all day without fading. Its warming scent is perfect for winter.

"Dark tempting florals, and a rich wood scent"
You can buy this bottle of heaven from John Lewis (lowest price i have found) here:

I hope you enjoyed this post my lovelies. I love it so much I wanted to share it with you!
I hope you've had an amazing weekend, and heres to the week ahead.

An awkward hello from Style over sense aka my first video.

Hola my fellow bloggers and readers. So i decided to make a video, just to put a face/voice to the blog if you will. Its nothing special, just me talking about utter rubbish that is in no way fashion related but like I said just a friendly hello.

I know that when I read other peoples blogs (which I have been doing for around 2 years now) that its always nice to see a little bit of personality behind the blog itself.

I do apologise for the general absolutely dire editing/inability to string words together but I thought id give it a shot. Let me know what you think I should make a video on and any suggestions blog wise would be excellent! I got a little over excited at the fact I managed to film my self for longer than a minute, im so shy!

Enjoy lovelies,

Georgina

P.S Im sorry about my hands messing with my bottle of diet coke, nervousness! Think ill stick to just blogging.

Whats on my face?

Good evening my lovelies, Ive been busy in the past 24 hours dithering over 2 different blog posts and decided to do something a little more beauty focused. Basically I tend have a beauty routine, I dont Really like to switch up my look a whole lot only my eyes. I have been lucky enough to have a mother who is as obsessed with beauty and cosmetics as I am, so being brought up with this has really turned me into an avid make up fanatic! And for that I am grateful. Even though it has a horredous effect on my bank balance (face palm). Anyway here goes.

So this is what I wear everyday all these items are, to me, absolutely 110% the best and I know i can trust them to do their job!

1. Nars 'Gina' blusher- This was one of the very first Nars products I have ever tried, and I can safetly say, i fell in love. I found this whilst on the hunt for a darker toned peachy blush with no shimmer as I prefer a matte look in a blush. I swatched the hyped up "orgasm" blush but I decided to go with this beautifully deeply pigmented orange peachy blush instead, and Ill never go back! It gives a healthy natural glow to my cheeks and looks awesome with bronzer in the summer, it also sits exceptionally well for the whole day, which I personally find quite a rare attribute. All in all, the perfect matte peach blush. So perfect ive already used two, and have just hit pan on my third!

2.Nars luminous moisture cream- Despite its hefty price tag at £42, this remains my favourite day moisturizer of all time. I think the nars skincare collection is underrated, because I hadnt heard about this until I visited the Nars counter in Harvey Nichols in Leeds. I have quite unpredictale skin, it seems to have a mind of its own, one day it'll be dry the next oily, and its been hard trying to find a base for my make up to cater for its unpredictability but also provide me with a healthy illuminating glow. This cream has anti ageing properties (which I dont need at my age, i know) but I find the Beech Bud Extract really plumps up ans rejuvinates my skin, its non perfumed thick creamy texture sits well with my sensitive skin and really makes for the perfect 24 hour hydration base for my make up.

3.CHANEL LE BLANC sheer illuminating base- Again a product with an extremely overwhelming price tag at £30 for 30ml (although you dont need alot because its quite concentrated), however I am willing to pay for quality, and this primer ticks all the boxes. My reasoning for using this everday is that i love a glow to base my foundation on, and this almost pearly pigmented white liquid primer is just beautiful. However, I imagine that someone who prefers a more matte effect to their make up, wouldnt be such an avid fan. But for me, and any other illuminating skin lovers, this is the one!

4. Estee Lauder double wear foundation- Now, i raved a little about this in my first ever blog post, and Ill rave a little more! Its literally the best foundation I have ever used, it gives complete coverage without cakeyness, an even tone without having to pile it on, its just overall the perfect foundation. It says "stay in place make up" on the label, and it really does its job, It literally lasts all day, through rain and snow, and it doesnt get greasy! Worth every penny, and I reccommend this to all cosmetic lovers.

(I bought a new bottle about a week ago and got a little over excited)

5. YSL shocking mascara- Again i gave this product a little mention in a previous blog post, I only purchased this recently, and its become my new staple mascara, after relying on my trusty Loreal Volume million mascara for the past year I thought is splash out on the hyped YSL shocking mascara, and I wasnt dissapointed. I like heavy mascara that creates long defined seperated lashes without clumps, and this fits the bill. Literally after a couple of strokes my lashes are literally "shocking", I will post a picture below to show you.

6. Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer- This cocealer has been highly rated as Im sure you know by many beauty bloggers out there, but its totally worth the hype, and at just £4.99 you cant go wrong. Its slightly thick creamy liquid texture makes for the best coverage, I dont find it drying like I do most concealers, and it sits as a great base under my foundation to hide blemishes and discolouration on my skin. A little tube of heaven for skin that isnt flaw free without make up!

7. Illamasqua precision ink- I have always worn liquid eyeliner for as long as I can remember, I think it creates a dramatic look on the eyes and is very versatile given wether you wear it heavy or light. I also only ever wear this on my upper lid, as I dont think under eye heavy make up suits me at all. After trying numerous drug store and luxury brands, I decided this is my staple liner. Its deeply pigmented colour, and easy to apply brush really work for me. Another plus is that I find it stays perfectly all day on top of my eyeshadow.

8. Vaseline lip therapy cocoa- Some of you might think, this isnt really a cosmetic beauty product, but for me it is a daily appearance in my reigeme and as I dont actually tend to wear any sort of lip colour, this keeps my pucker in check all day! I tend to get quite dry lips, which is one of the reasons that I tend to opt out of lip products with contain any sort of colour, but this smells beautiful and really moisturisers my lips.

9.Laura Mercier brow definer- This is the only Laura Mercier beauty product that I own, and I must say its absolutely excellent. I use this to fill in and define my brows, I used the GOSH eyebrow palette shadows for a while, but they didnt quite cut it for me. However this brow definer by Laura Mercier really has the staying power i wanted, I apply it with my Topshop slanted eye brush for a really defined effect. Ive had this pot of definer for just over 9 months now, and theres still a good amount left, so its money well spent on this beaut of a product. Id quite like to try the IllMasqua eyebrow cake to see if lives up to its reputation, have any of you lovelies tried it?

10. Sleek eye palette in Au Naturel nude- For my eyeshadow, i tend to change products and try new brands when they have all gone. I have to say this is one of the most versatile palettes out there that I have tried. Its beautiful choice of shimmery and matte browns its the ideal for multi looks, it can be worn heavy or more natural. I tend to wear quite a dark brown colour in the crease of my eyelids as Iove the babydoll eye look with simple eyeliner and longlashes. This really is highly pigmented and worth the purchase.

And thats what i wear on a daly basis on my face folks! It takes me around 10 minutes in total to put this all on.I hope you enjoyed reading my little reviews, and i would really appreciate some feedback from my fellow bloggers!

Lots of love,

Georgina laura

OOTD and what I'm listening to this month.

Hola again fellow fashion and beauty fanatics! Im back, with a nice big ass blog post!

So just a little ramble before I get stuck into post #3. So, I can see I have a few readers of my blog so far, and Im full to the brim with blog post ideas...in fact i have so many I went to paperchase today especially to buy a mini journal to organise all my ideas! I'd love some feedback on what sort of posts you guys would like to see, OOTD? Make up? Haul? Get to know me? Current faves? SO MANY IDEAS, help!

Today was a pretty chilled out day for me, i went to town, did a spot of shopping and listened to some new tracks. Heres what i wore, I will link all the items just underneath...

H&M bodycon dress (I can't find the link online, but its new in £14.99)

So that was the super cosy autumn outfit i wore today, how amazing is the dress?! I picked it up in H&M around a week ago, thinking Id probably never wear it. Im a jean lover you see, a bit of a tomboy! But i think its really fitting with my style, very pleased with this purchase, so versatile i think it could be worn to go out partying in too!
My fur headband is probably my favourite purchase from this weekend, its super warm and cosy and as you would expect from John Lewis, amazing quality. I get cold really easily, especially with winter appoaching (horribly quickly) and i find keeping my head warm really helps.
Again, as you can see im a real fan of black along with my biker jackets!

Incase you havent seen in the about me section, I have always wanted to DJ, and am constantly lookimg for someone to teach me the tricks of the trade when it comes to mixing. So I thought I'd do a monthly feature, where I name three artists that Im listening to at the moment, the ones that are top of my Soundcloud playlist! I know not everyone is into music, but its something that I have a a major passion for, if you see me out and about Ill always have my headphones stuck in and scanning my soundcloud, various blogs and mixmag articles for new music. Im into electro, house, and drum and bass mainly. And i know this may sound very strange, but I actually prefer to listen to music with no lyrics. Again, strange i know! I guess i just enjoy the euphoric effects music alone can create, like i said this will be a monthly feature but its something i have a real passion and interest in and could discuss new artists and tracks for days!

Above are my top three artists of this month so far.

1. Gorgon City- I originally discovered these amazing artists whilst browsing through an old Mixmag magazine, and decided to give them a listen on souncloud. Matt and Kye who make up the Gorgon duo, produce what I would personally describe as deep bass, house. spiked with a little garage kick. They are top notch producers and definitely the duo to watch in 2013. My personal 3 fave is their trackThor, definitely reccommend a listen!

2.Maya Jane Coles- now ive listened to some of mayas earlier mixes, but this month ive been loving her mix that she did for Mixmag, here, Mixmag cd. Its beautifully mixed, and with no lyrics and full tracks seamlessley put together make it perfect listening. I enjoy the thrill i get through mayas slightly gothic house music, it definitely sends shivers down my spine. She really satisfys my love for tracks that can make me 'feel' something, and hers is super dark. I love it.

3. Boiler room TV- this isnt an artist to those of you who are not familiar with the concept of 'Boiler room', it is essentially a show for up and coming, futuristic underground music whereby shows are held in secret locations and broadcasted on your tv and souncloud. Soundcloud is my holy grail for music, and boiler room has an array of amazing sets on there, so if your into futuristic, housey, grimey, deep and individual beats then go take a peek at their page!

I hope you enjoyed this post, a little different I know. I thought id encorporate a little monthly feature and see what happens, experimenting can only lead to finding out!

Adios for now fashion buddies x

OOTD "effortless effort is effort"

Topshop headband (bought 2 years ago) similar Here
H&M plaid flannel shirt
H&M biker jacket
Topshop petite Joni jeans
ASOS ankle boots
Imitation Alexander Wang 'rocco' bag
Topshop ankle socks

Ok, so i thought a simple outfit of the day would make the cut for my second ever blog post. I always enjoy seeing what people have worn and what items look like on as part of a working attire!

So today I went to York city centre on a shopping outing with my mum. I decided on my cosy Topshop headband, which I got a couple of seasons ago to keep my ears warm. Coupled with my trusty biker jacket layered over my new favourite staple plaid shirt from H&M (see links above). I dont usually go for oversized shirts, but i thought this worked really well and is spot on for this seasons "masculine" twist to trends. Which brings in my trusty ASOS ankle boots, which I mentionedin my previous post. These are super comfortable, along with my Joni Topshop black jeans. I used my Imitation Alexander Wang bag to finish offmy outfit, I think the studs added to the dress down,"ive made no effort today...even though i really have" sort of attitude.

How has your weekend been so far? Brilliant i hope, enjoy your sundays and I'll be back tomorrow!

Winter 13' my key pieces (featuring black, black and more black)

Blog style, my key pieces.

Hello my lovely fellow fashion obsessed individuals, Georgina here.

Ok so for my first post, I thought Id use my all time favourite new Ipad app to help me out. Polyvore, its amazing, Ive had my account 2 days and have found myself spending hours at a time making and creating outfits.

So I mashed together my top 8 staple pieces which I have found my way to purchasing in preperation for this winter, the proud owner of these Id like to share them, with you lovely lot.

   1.        Minuet black fur hat "luxe up your outfit with a little fur"

    - Isnt this just adorable? This little gem I picked up in Debenhams whilst I was shopping with my mother, its a pricier version of the ones you can get in Topshop or H&M. I had a brown one last year from Topshop, but i wanted something more luxurious this year to keep my little ears warm. Its a lovely thick fur, with a silk material lining and fits perfectly, I couldnt ask for more. Keep me warm, and I'm content.

The reasoning behig it being made a 'key' piece for me this year is purely down to its effortless versitility. It can be worn with literally anything, from jeans and a lumberjack shirt or with a flowy t-shirt dress and a leather biker. You name it, this works with everything.

As i mentioned before this fluffy statement piece was a little heavy on the price tag at £45, but you can pick up virtually the same thing in other high street stores for a fraction of the price. Perhaps even your local vintage store!

    2.       Topshop Leopard print tee "love it or hate it"

- Ok, so my second piece I guess is going to be either a love or hate. Leopard print isnt to everyones taste, and I didnt think it was mine until curiosity made me try it on...

I threw this together with a pair of Topshop Joni skinnies, and i fell in love. It brings a little life to my wardrobe full of black, without it being too outrageous. A statement piece for me, purely due to its bold print which I have so far managed to match with my leather shorts, skinnies and my pleather pencil skirt. Money well spent as far as im concerned.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay to kitty print?

 3.      H M black faux leather jacket "toughen it up or grunge it down"

-Ok, so for those of you that know me and just a little sneak peek for those that don't, I have a self confessed love for leather biker jackets. I just think that everyone should own one to toughen up or grunge down any outfit, whilst looking totally effortlesly stylish.
This biker is going to be my key outerwear for this winter, and it was a total bargin at 29.99! The quality is surprisngly good (as i tend to find with H&M), and the detail is just spot on. It is fully lined, and complete with beautiful silver hardware and padded detailing. Im not a biker jacket virgin and shamelessley own 10 others (bad i know), but this definitely makes my top 3.

   4.       black Joni jeans "versatile, comfy and stylish. These boast all 3"

-The Joni high waisted jeans in Topshop are the jeans dreams are made of. And in my favourite colour, black, these had to be in my winter key piece collection. They are flattering, and extrmemely comfortable along with being totally versatile.

I bought these in summer but due to the heat we've unexpectadly had in the UK havent worn them much and have just been living in dresses. However, winter has suddenly hit us and these are my go to pair of jeans. As you can imagine, with them being a pair of black jeans, they literally go with anything.

My reasoning, why Joni? Purely because they are comfy and not overly pricey. I also purchased these in 'petite' although I am not particularly short I wanted a more 'ankle grazer' jeans to give an edgy and more finished look to my outfits. And show off my bright coloured sock collection of course!

    5.      ASOS leather boots  "where did you get those from?"

These little beauties are my newest most recent addition to my winter collection. I recieved them just yesterday from ASOS, and I already have formed a loving relationship with their beautiful brown leather, grunge-esque characteristicts. I feel I must stress how much of a total bargin these were, originally at £60 but I got them for £27. And believe me they are worth much more, the quality is outstanding. I have already had 5 people declare their love for them, and was quizzed on where I got them.

They are leather, pull on chelsea boots. But what really makes these babies special for a non girly girl like me, is their rubber heel and sole which is almost like a worker boot. This characteristic sits right on trend with AW 13 footwear, aligning with grunge and goth. To me they are perfect.

What are your viewson this almost masculine edge to footwear this season?

  6.      H M black bag "The beauty of simplicity"

For me a black bag is the equivalent to a LBD, everyone needs one, they are stylish, ever om trend and totally versatile. This one makes the cut to this years winter key piece collection, purely due to its edgy, and unique silver hardwear detailing.

It looks more expensive than it was at just £15, and I shall be workimg this with jeans, dresses the lot.

The only minor grumble i have, is that I wish it was bigger! Im one of those individuals that likes to carry around the contents of my make up bag/bedroom/life around with me,you see!

     7.     Estée Lauder double wear foundation "beware may cause addiction"

This is the holy grail of foundation, I know its mentioned all over and praised for its super staying power, but it really is the best foundation I have ever used.

I have used this for the past 5 years, its £27.50 a bottle which is pricey i admit, but I would genuinley never buy a different brand now i have used this. Its not drying, it lasts all day and makes a great base for powders. If youve never tried it, go grab yourself a tester from an Estee counter and I can garantee youll be hooked! That is unless you prefer very light coverage, altough they do have a "double wear light" for those that dont sway toward full coverage!

The reason behind me including it in my key pieces this winter, is primarly because I wanted to preach to you guys about how bloody good this magical potion of a foundation is, but also with the weather getting more unpredictable Im going to need something with snow proof staying power, and this one ticks all the boxes!

      8.     Yves Saint Laurent mascara "Super duper lashes"

My last but not least addition to my key winter pieces has to be my new found volume creating mascara, I bought this just over a week ago despite the price tag and hit and miss reviews, and i must say Im impressed. I think super doll like heavy lashes and strong brown eye contur shadow look beautiful in winter with a cosy attire, and this fits the bill.

As i mentioned, this mascara hasnt had consistent reviews, however I think this not flaky formula and instant thickening mascara is absolutely fantastic, I would definitely reccommend it.

Its now currently 1am, and thats my first blog post! I hope you enjoyed reading about my winter staples as much as I enjoyed creating it, let me know of ideas for future posts, Im new to all this! I hope your all having an excellent September.

P.s thought id put a face to my blog HELLO ALL

Much love,

Georgina x
