Winter 13' my key pieces (featuring black, black and more black)

Blog style, my key pieces.

Hello my lovely fellow fashion obsessed individuals, Georgina here.

Ok so for my first post, I thought Id use my all time favourite new Ipad app to help me out. Polyvore, its amazing, Ive had my account 2 days and have found myself spending hours at a time making and creating outfits.

So I mashed together my top 8 staple pieces which I have found my way to purchasing in preperation for this winter, the proud owner of these Id like to share them, with you lovely lot.

   1.        Minuet black fur hat "luxe up your outfit with a little fur"

    - Isnt this just adorable? This little gem I picked up in Debenhams whilst I was shopping with my mother, its a pricier version of the ones you can get in Topshop or H&M. I had a brown one last year from Topshop, but i wanted something more luxurious this year to keep my little ears warm. Its a lovely thick fur, with a silk material lining and fits perfectly, I couldnt ask for more. Keep me warm, and I'm content.

The reasoning behig it being made a 'key' piece for me this year is purely down to its effortless versitility. It can be worn with literally anything, from jeans and a lumberjack shirt or with a flowy t-shirt dress and a leather biker. You name it, this works with everything.

As i mentioned before this fluffy statement piece was a little heavy on the price tag at £45, but you can pick up virtually the same thing in other high street stores for a fraction of the price. Perhaps even your local vintage store!

    2.       Topshop Leopard print tee "love it or hate it"

- Ok, so my second piece I guess is going to be either a love or hate. Leopard print isnt to everyones taste, and I didnt think it was mine until curiosity made me try it on...

I threw this together with a pair of Topshop Joni skinnies, and i fell in love. It brings a little life to my wardrobe full of black, without it being too outrageous. A statement piece for me, purely due to its bold print which I have so far managed to match with my leather shorts, skinnies and my pleather pencil skirt. Money well spent as far as im concerned.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay to kitty print?

 3.      H M black faux leather jacket "toughen it up or grunge it down"

-Ok, so for those of you that know me and just a little sneak peek for those that don't, I have a self confessed love for leather biker jackets. I just think that everyone should own one to toughen up or grunge down any outfit, whilst looking totally effortlesly stylish.
This biker is going to be my key outerwear for this winter, and it was a total bargin at 29.99! The quality is surprisngly good (as i tend to find with H&M), and the detail is just spot on. It is fully lined, and complete with beautiful silver hardware and padded detailing. Im not a biker jacket virgin and shamelessley own 10 others (bad i know), but this definitely makes my top 3.

   4.       black Joni jeans "versatile, comfy and stylish. These boast all 3"

-The Joni high waisted jeans in Topshop are the jeans dreams are made of. And in my favourite colour, black, these had to be in my winter key piece collection. They are flattering, and extrmemely comfortable along with being totally versatile.

I bought these in summer but due to the heat we've unexpectadly had in the UK havent worn them much and have just been living in dresses. However, winter has suddenly hit us and these are my go to pair of jeans. As you can imagine, with them being a pair of black jeans, they literally go with anything.

My reasoning, why Joni? Purely because they are comfy and not overly pricey. I also purchased these in 'petite' although I am not particularly short I wanted a more 'ankle grazer' jeans to give an edgy and more finished look to my outfits. And show off my bright coloured sock collection of course!

    5.      ASOS leather boots  "where did you get those from?"

These little beauties are my newest most recent addition to my winter collection. I recieved them just yesterday from ASOS, and I already have formed a loving relationship with their beautiful brown leather, grunge-esque characteristicts. I feel I must stress how much of a total bargin these were, originally at £60 but I got them for £27. And believe me they are worth much more, the quality is outstanding. I have already had 5 people declare their love for them, and was quizzed on where I got them.

They are leather, pull on chelsea boots. But what really makes these babies special for a non girly girl like me, is their rubber heel and sole which is almost like a worker boot. This characteristic sits right on trend with AW 13 footwear, aligning with grunge and goth. To me they are perfect.

What are your viewson this almost masculine edge to footwear this season?

  6.      H M black bag "The beauty of simplicity"

For me a black bag is the equivalent to a LBD, everyone needs one, they are stylish, ever om trend and totally versatile. This one makes the cut to this years winter key piece collection, purely due to its edgy, and unique silver hardwear detailing.

It looks more expensive than it was at just £15, and I shall be workimg this with jeans, dresses the lot.

The only minor grumble i have, is that I wish it was bigger! Im one of those individuals that likes to carry around the contents of my make up bag/bedroom/life around with me,you see!

     7.     Estée Lauder double wear foundation "beware may cause addiction"

This is the holy grail of foundation, I know its mentioned all over and praised for its super staying power, but it really is the best foundation I have ever used.

I have used this for the past 5 years, its £27.50 a bottle which is pricey i admit, but I would genuinley never buy a different brand now i have used this. Its not drying, it lasts all day and makes a great base for powders. If youve never tried it, go grab yourself a tester from an Estee counter and I can garantee youll be hooked! That is unless you prefer very light coverage, altough they do have a "double wear light" for those that dont sway toward full coverage!

The reason behind me including it in my key pieces this winter, is primarly because I wanted to preach to you guys about how bloody good this magical potion of a foundation is, but also with the weather getting more unpredictable Im going to need something with snow proof staying power, and this one ticks all the boxes!

      8.     Yves Saint Laurent mascara "Super duper lashes"

My last but not least addition to my key winter pieces has to be my new found volume creating mascara, I bought this just over a week ago despite the price tag and hit and miss reviews, and i must say Im impressed. I think super doll like heavy lashes and strong brown eye contur shadow look beautiful in winter with a cosy attire, and this fits the bill.

As i mentioned, this mascara hasnt had consistent reviews, however I think this not flaky formula and instant thickening mascara is absolutely fantastic, I would definitely reccommend it.

Its now currently 1am, and thats my first blog post! I hope you enjoyed reading about my winter staples as much as I enjoyed creating it, let me know of ideas for future posts, Im new to all this! I hope your all having an excellent September.

P.s thought id put a face to my blog HELLO ALL

Much love,

Georgina x
